A Reflection on Psalm 14:1
Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is no one who does good.”
Sometimes I may go through a rough time in my life, and find myself saying, “Where are you, God, in all this? I don’t feel your presence” In fact, on some such occasions I may even doubt God’s existence entirely. Then, in so many of these situations, something wonderful happens…I am lifted out of my gloom, through a thoughtful, encouraging word of a friend, or a positive outcome to my problem. Then, very spontaneously, from the depths of my soul, I find myself saying, as does the psalmist in Psalm 14, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’”. ~ Barb Michaelsen.
