QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
1.2 Corinthians 5:7: What does it mean for you to walk by "faith", not by sight at this point in time?

2. 2 Corinthians 5:17: What do you think about Paul's assertion that in Christ anyone is a new creation, the old has passed away and everything is new? Do you feel that way? Why? Why not?

3. Mark 4:26-34: Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a mustard seed, which looks insignificant
but grows beyond its capability. What is your reaction to this image?

  1. To walk by faith is to walk in trust, faithfulness and commitment to God. It means not being swayed by what you see around you, but rather to live with a vision that God will be faithful to God's promises of bringing a reign of love, justice and peace. As it reads in the prayer that Jesus taught his followers, "thy kingdom come on earth as in heaven." As followers of Jesus in the 21st century, we play an important role in reflecting the values of God's reign here on earth, where we live, work and play.

  2. For me, the picture of the mustard seed growing chaotically in unexpected and unwanted places is a powerful way of visualizing the working of the Spirit today at work in the world and in our lives. It resonates with my experiences more than the traditional understanding of the mustard seed as an extremely small seed producing something huge.
